There are many stories as to when the first hot dog was first created and where. The most popular of them is that the hot dog was invented in Frankfurt, Germany in 1487. (The word “frankfurter” is said to be proof of the hot dog’s roots.)
As with all things, the hot dog would someday require an answer to, “How do we make this even better?” The Original Round Dog was something we came up with once we realized that our hot dog lovin’ friends and customers were clamoring for us to find a way to make America’s beloved hot dog even better (thank you, social media!). Now, we’re proud to introduce the world to the next generation of hot dogs.

Thanks to your feedback, we’re getting to know how much you love the Round Dog!
Across the country, we’re learning that the Round Dog is a hit with just about everyone in the family. For moms and dads, it’s a no-brainer; they love that they’re skinless, kid-friendly, and perfect for grilling! (A few dads were pretty excited about not having to worry about their hot dogs rolling off the grill.) Teenage and college students have reported that they really like piling on all their favorite toppings and expressing their creativity. As for grandma, grandpa, and all the other beloved seniors in our lives—they’re embracing the Old-World taste and the memories that come with it.
The only person who doesn’t seem to be fond of them is the hot dog bun baker… Since the Round Dog fits perfectly on any hamburger or sandwich roll, it means the traditional hot dog bun may soon be a thing of the past.
